How can VoIP help your company save $$?

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)

There was a time that telephone companies had 100% power over every single phone user. Not anymore!!

Since the voice over IP entered the communication market, phone companies have decreased their market share considerably.

What is Voice-over IP (VoIP) service?“ VoIP, also known as Broadband phone service, uses your high-speed Internet connection to place and receive phone calls”.
“All VoIP calls are carried over the Internet until each call needs to be directed to a regular phone line. This allows you to save money on local, long distance, and international calls. When you sign up, you are also given a new phone number that others can use to call you on your new VoIP service. You will then be able to keep this phone number, no matter where or how often you move.” www.phonedog.com
The most popular Voice over IP softwares are “Skype” and “Voip”. Millions of individuals and businesses use those softwares to make free video and voice calls, send instant messages and share files with other Skype , TokBox, SightSpeed, MSN or SmartVoip users.

Everyday, people also use those softwares to make low-cost calls to landlines and mobiles.

How are those softwares effectively helping companies save money?

Would the internet telephony technology cause the telephone companies to go bankrupt?

  1. Não digo que irão falir, mas com certeza terão que oferecer outros serviços.
Na França por exemplo, as empresas de telefonia são as mesmas que oferecem televisão a cabo e conexão a internet.

  4. I use skype religiously. I don't even use a home phone service. I use cell for local and use skype for my long distance or overseas calls.

  5. Generally I am under the impression that VoIP will have a huge impact on the telco business. The relevant companies will certainly have to move and find ways to create a sustainable business model.

Working in an international ad agency with offices all over the world, using VoIP has actually really cut down on our telephone costs. we regulary use it with colleagues from all over the world instead of the regular landline as a part of our cost-efficiency programm.

On a personal level, Skype is definitely an asset that has improved my life and international communication enourmously.

  8. VOIP getting popular day by day. Today's market is consumer driven. Consumer are looking for better product with competitive price. VOIP helps to reduce companies over-all expenses to communicate with their international as well as domestic market business partners. Companies can avoid expenses on traveling for meeting.

GOToMeeting, Google Voice and Skype are the perfect example of gaining popularity of VOIP
